Get ready to hit the road!
By J.Prather
I picked up this book and was immediately transported back in time to when my now thirteen year old son was two, and learned his ABC's by reading road signs. Every time we would get in the car, we would spell out and talk about each sign we passed. Backseat A-B-See feeds into that natural sign curiosity, giving brilliant depictions of common road signs that illustrate each letter of the alphabet. Okay, so some of the signs aren't so common (Q is for Quack... duck crossing), but they are all charming and are sure to captivate any young reader who is used to just seeing them from the backseat. The graphic design is perfect, as all the signs appear in brilliant color on a deep black background designed to look like a highway. These signs really pop! Each sign is accompanied by a large depiction of its letter set to the side, which is important when you are working on letter recognition. The text is very minimal, as our car takes off on the first page, along with the words "From the backseat, what do you see?" That's all the text we get (aside from the signs and letters) until we get to the last page, when we see the car's passenger snoozing away to a long line of Zzzzzzz's, which is of course the perfect end to any car trip. This is a wonderful choice for any sign obsessed kid, or if you are just looking for a way to tie in the alphabet to the real world. A must have for any toddler or preschooler's personal collection or any preschool classroom.

The children love this book. It describes what they see as they ride in the car and is very age appropriate for young children.

We love this book! So did the grandchild. It is exactly what was advertised in the book review on line.
