One of my son's favorites!

We borrowed this book from the library, and my 22 month old loves it! It's one of our bed-time books now.Yes, to the other reviewer, the rhyming is childish because IT'S WRITTEN FOR A CHILD. I'm sorry if you thought this was for adults. The best part is my son actually finishes the sentences for me so we can read it together. A very cute book!

Trouble with Writing

The pictures are fun for my son, but the writing is terrible. I can't read through some of the rhymes and I adjust the text to make sense. This is not a book for an English teacher to read again and again.

I really LOVED the daddy book by this author so I purchased the mommy book, too. However...I was sadly disappointed! My daughter is still young enough that she doesn't understand the books we read (5 months) and I don't really want her to have this one. All of the references in this book are very "typical" of what women would be expected to do without celebrating things that women can do! It only talks about getting ready with mommy, shopping with mommy, bath time with mommy, cooking with mommy...it really boxes in the role of a mother when I think women can be so much more than these stereotypes. I don't think the author was trying to make any kind of statement with it and I'm not typically a feminist, but this just didn't sit right with me. I want my daughter to see more than those stereotypes in me and the way I love and care for her. I'm bummed!
