By Denis Vukosav
‘The Cardboard Box Book‘ written by Roger Priddy is beautiful and educating picture book that encourages children to be creative, teaching them how to do themselves things for the game and entertainment, and also indirectly teaching how important it is to keep the environment by reusing already made things, not buying new ones.On the first page young reader will meet Boxy who says that though it may be a little bit square it’s definitely not boring because cardboard are awesome. It invites children to join in adventure of learning how to recycle cardboard to make some cool, fun and incredible things to play with which all begin with just one box.On the following pages Boxy will provide many crafting tips and imaginative ideas how to make some entertaining objects and toys using only cardboard box and some basic equipment such as glue, pencil, paintbrush and scissors. It also introduces children to some special equipment which is not mandatory but will allow children hand-made objects to look even better and more special – scalpel, metallic paints and split pins. What follows on around fifty pages is a series of beautifully illustrated and intuitive tips how to make object such as cake stand, playhouse, mailbox, market stand, cool car, princess castle and many more, presented in a step-by-step way that will make them easy to track even by preschooler. The illustrations have been made in such a way that the author combined real images of various objects allowing child the opportunity to learn about the many things that may not have been known before together with artwork which shows the process of making. Therefore, this book can be equally praised and recommended because of its imagination, educational effects and lessons provided which all makes it not only good read at home but also recommended for kindergarten and lower grades of school.
