When the flowers begin to bloom
and the world starts turning green,
animals everywhere are born . . .
including the noisy ducklings!
From the creator of A Book of Sleep and Snow Rabbit, Spring Rabbit comes a beautiful book of baby animals. Travel with the curious duck and visit babies around the world on their very first day of life.
The Boston Globe calls Il Sung Na’s art “so joyous, so jubilantly colorful, it feels celebratory and poetic even when the story is simple and spare.”

By Denis Vukosav
“A Book of Babies” written and illustrated by Il Sung Na is a nicely made children book for toddlers that talks about families of all kinds, a good choice for a bedtime story. The author who attracted the attention of readers with his two previous books “A Book of Sleep” and “Snow Rabbit, Spring Rabbit” with this title repeated successful and attractive formula creating story that is both pleasant to watch and easy to read for young children and their parents. And though author due to book theme dedicated “A Book of Babies” to all the mothers in the world, as a dad I can confirm that this title would be loved by fathers while reading it with their little girls and boys before going to sleep. In his work Il Sung Na showed different families bringing a beautiful message about the diversity of life, something that we all should be proud of.His illustrations were made using unusual technique of combining handmade painted textures with digitally generated layers, which were then merged with computer software that resulted in unusual and very interesting illustrations of kind you will not often see.Together with lovely text and nice message that book brought, these all are reasons why I can recommend this book as a good choice for bedtime story if you have children between 2 and 4 years old.

By Sunshine on A Rainy Day
This is a beautiful bedtime story about animal babies. The author takes you to many different types of animal families including those with siblings, those who live in pouches, and those with fur versus scales. But in the end, all babies need their sleep.Na's illustrative technique is unique. He uses a variety of textures and colors which brings the animals to life. The animals are colored creatively in some cases rather than realistically. This book is short--22 pages--but that makes it perfect for young children ages 0-4 for whom I would recommend this book.I enjoyed the book so much that I would have liked to see more pages of animals.

By B. Boman
This book is written very similarly to the style of "A Book of Sleep" by Il Sung Na. You follow a little duck around on his journey to see all of the other new babies that were born. It is fun to show kids how different all families can be. The writing style is beautiful as well as the pictures and as a bonus the book is educational because it teaches about what different animal families are like. This book is truly a winner.
