A Library Book for Bear (Bear and Mouse) Details

Curmudgeonly Bear succumbs to Mouse’s entreaties and discovers the joy of books in a hilarious story that fans will covet for their own library.

Bear does not want to go to the library. He is quite sure he already has all the books he will ever need. Yet the relentlessly cheery Mouse, small and gray and bright-eyed, thinks different. When Bear reluctantly agrees to go with his friend to the big library, neither rocket ships nor wooden canoes are enough for Bear’s picky tastes. How will Mouse ever find the perfect book for Bear? Children will giggle themselves silly as Bear’s arguments give way to his inevitable curiosity, leading up to a satisfying story hour and a humorously just-right library book.

5Adventure at the Library
By tvtv3
In A LIBRARY BOOK FOR BEAR, Bear reluctantly goes to his friend Mouse to the library. Bear already owns seven books and doesn't believe he needs any more. Not only that, but when he gets to the library, he thinks that a building filled with books is much too extravagant. However, to pacify Mouse, Bear tells him to find a book about pickles. As Mouse searches for the perfect book for Bear, the two friends make a discovery about the library that changes both their moods. A LIBRARY BOOK FOR BEAR is a really fun book that introduces some of the joys that can be found in a library besides just books and silent reading. The illustrations are cute and do a great job of complementing the text. This would be a really good book to read with a child before taking them to the library for the first time.

5Leilani's teacher read this best ... LOL
By Darilee Bednar
Book ReviewerLeilani age 4 and Grammy age oldLeilani says: Bear didn't have his voice quiet. He had his voice LOUD.He wanted to pick his own book. He found a pickle book that danced around. He was not happy because pickles don't dance. He was a grumpy bear.Mouse looked for books for bear. He found wrong books for Bear.Mouse is nice. Mouse is a good friend. The librarian was reading a book for story time. The librarian is nice.I like this book ... My new teacher, Miss Julie, read this book to me. And my other teacher, Miss Jessica, read this book to me... and my Grammy read this book to me. Miss Jessica read this book best... (Grammy is making Bear noises.)Grammy says: This book is the 5th book in the Mouse and Bear series. As always, Bear doesn't want to be bothered with new adventures and is dragged unwillingly to the library to get a book on pickles by his friend Mouse. Bear didn't use his quiet voice and got shhhhh and was going to leave the library without a book until the Librarian encouraged him to listen to story time. And, of course, there is a happy ending... Bear gets his pickle book to share with Mouse.Perhaps I read too much into the story line... but I kinda understand Bear. He is awkward and a bit of an outsider. He could easily live happily in his little world of house and home... but there is Mouse. Mouse, who in previous books, has introduced him to friendship and laughter and sharing and parties. Everyone needs a Mouse to drag them into life.A pleasant story about friendship is elevated by the artwork of Kady MacDonald Denton who has illustrated all of the Mouse and Bear series. Cartoon watercoloring done in pastel tones. Ms Denton has been quoted in wiki as saying she never uses a computer to generate her artwork... which shows. There is a naturalness to the drawings... a use of white space that moves the story along. This book was given to Leilani by the PNBA conference. She is the newest of my granddaughters to give book reviews. I treasure the opportunity to give her voice. Thank you Bonny Becker for the book and Thank you reader for getting all the way to the end of this review.Leilani gives it 5 stars and Grammy says it's a good addition to the series.

5Bear and Mouse are back and visiting the library.
By M. Laiuppa
A delightful addition to the Bear and Mouse series. As a librarian, this will be one of my favorite books to use to introduce young ones to using the library. Be sure to check out the others and the Bear plush if it is still available.
