And a one and a two and a three and a four bat books~~each more fun than the last!

Brian Lies is simply brilliant. Again we fly through the night air! From dusk til dawn the bats share an adventure, all verse-in-rhyme, clever with vocabulary. The detail in the illustrations show the patience of the master. The symbols, guitars, string instruments, wood instruments, brass horns, drums, spoons, from every angle, upside-down and right-side up. My wee favorite baby bat with the swimmies reappears as precious as ever. I love these bats~~who wouldn't? The bands, the blues, the thumping & jumping~~hard to sit still reading this one! As with all the other bat-books~~still catching more details and puns the 2nd and 3rd and 4th time we read it. Another winner combining science and cultural arts! I wonder where Lies' bats will fly the children next. Best books since Magic School Bus series!

This was an adorable book and I wish I had a youngin' to read it to. I love bats, I think they are fascinating and I think this is a great book about them. The bats in this book are cute and fun, playing instruments and whizzing through the skies.The pictures throughout where incredible and I think reading with to/with your kids would be a lot of fun. The book is a wonderful ode to music and the excitement and emotions that it can produce (even in these bats). Brian Lies has a few other books in the Bats series as well, including Bats at the Beach, Bats at the Ballgame, and Bats at the Library all of which are teaching young readers about fun times and things.A wonderful book!

I keep buying Lies' books to give to friends with children, and now I have grand nephews of my own to give them to. Each one is a treat, but this might be my favorite so far. So much fun, and so creative - look hard at the little details in the pictures; there are all sorts of references that even the grownups will appreciate!
