Rah! Buddy's a monster, and he's hungry!Time for all cute little bunnies to hop into his mouth. "Oh no!" they say. "There are cupcakes in the oven!" They offer Buddy some, and he becomes too full to eat the bunnies. He'll have to come back tomorrow. And so it goes between Buddy and the bunnies--they take him swimming, after which he is too tired to eat; they take him on all the rides at a carnival, after which he is too dizzy to eat; they even form a Buddy fan club . . . and who could eat their own fan club? Eventually Buddy realizes that the bunnies have tricked him. The bunnies aren't food at all--they are friends!
The bunnies' seemingly naive offers of friendship are a charming--and clever--mode of survival in this sweet and silly story about a not-at-all-scary monster.

By Denis Vukosav
“Buddy and the Bunnies in” written and illustrated by Bob Shea a charming and entertaining story for children about a monster that is not so terrible and small but wise bunnies that have become friends instead of food.At the beginning of the story, reader will meet a scary monster that goes around and threatens everything and everyone, yelling at the lake, mountain, trees, even sun to get out and let him pass. When he will encounter the cute little bunnies monster will threaten that he’s going to eat them - instead they will give him some cupcakes and they will be saved for that day. Tomorrow he’ll come again but this time they will take him swimming that made him tired and saved them again. And so the story will be repeated every day until finally the monster will realize that he was outsmarted by the bunnies, monster will learn that you should not play with the food and instead they will become friends…“Buddy and the Bunnies in” is a nice story that at first glance seems aggressive, but with each subsequent page and new reading will become funnier for young readers to enjoy how wise little bunnies are outwitting scary monster. The book is illustrated with simple drawings of vivid color with expressive feelings that appear to be understandable even for youngest, there is not too much text that allows parents to supplement story with their additional text. This work carries a nice message that power means nothing if on the other side you have the wisdom that if properly applied can be stronger than anything. So if you like the picture book made by Bob Shea this is yet another of those in which your children will enjoy, although at first reader may get impression that it’s a bit violent - therefore I suggest you to browse through its pages first to make sure that you like it.

I'll admit right away that I think Bob Shea is brilliant. Brilliant! Once again, he delivers a story that shows just how much he is in tune with his audience - young kids! Buddy is a pretty wild monster, tearing around the forest, chasing birds and telling the sun "You're not so hot!" It's when this guy runs across a group of little bunnies and declares "I'm going to eat all you bunnies!" that the fun really starts. It seems that these bunnies are making cupcakes and no monster can pass up cupcakes. Then everybody is going swimming and everyone knows that you can't go swimming on a full stomach... You can see where this is going. This smart little group of bunnies outwits this crazy monster with kindness after kindness, delivering on an ending that speaks to the power of friendship even in the face of bad behavior. Really bad behavior. This is a cute story packed with energy and many laugh out loud moments that only Bob Shea can deliver. The illustrations are colorful and bold, with cute little bunnies that mysteriously multiply and one very expressive monster. They are packed full of tiny fun details that will guarantee lots of repeat reads as kids will delight in the antics of these simply drawn but very cute bunnies. This is an excellent choice for any preschooler's or early elementary student's personal collection. The drama, humor, and fantastic read aloud flow also make it a good choice for classroom teachers searching for a good read aloud. While I think this might be a bit too long for younger preschoolers to enjoy in a story time setting, I look forward to trying this out with five to seven year olds who will no doubt be engaged by the fun antics of this very adorable yet carnivorous monster who learns that you don't play with your food, but you can play with your friends.

A monster set on consuming a group of cute little bunnies doesn't sound like a very funny children's book. But the bunnies are actually devious little creatures and then know how to handle the situation and actually convince the scary monster that friendship is a better and healthier course of action.Bright colors, nifty illustrations and a totally engrossing and humorous text will make this a picture book your child or grandchild will want to read over and over again. And, after enjoying this book a number of times, if you ever tell your little one to not play with his or her food he/she will probably look back at you and giggle.Book provided by publisher.
