5My 7 year-old loved it!
By Anita josie jo
My 7 year-old has grown out of picture books, and wants to read chapter books, but so many are long and daunting for a beginning reader. This book was perfect for my son, who loves action. Each page still has pen and ink pictures, but was long enough to engage him in the story. This is a perfect transition book from picture books to chapter books. I have been looking for interesting early reader chapter books and ones for boys seem hard to find. My son already wants every book in this series!

5Captain Awesome brings love of reading to 8 yr. old boy!
By Patricia Jo Smith
My son loves this whole series. I was at a conference and was able to get the first book in the series signed by Stan Kirby for my son, Ben. When I brought it home, he was ecstatic. Once he read that one, he had to read them all, and he even wants to read them in order. With this one, I feel like he really became an independent reader. I knew it when he woke up one morning at his normal time, but appeared to be very cranky and sleepy. I kept asking him why he was so out of sorts, and he finally admitted that after we put him to bed the night before, he had gotten back up and read until he finished the book. He said that he just couldn't sleep until he read the whole book. I knew then that I had a real reader on my hands; my husband and I admitted (to each other, not our son!) that we had done that countless times as children. Finding the right book is how you build a love of reading, and after the first one, it all takes off. Thanks, Captain Awesome and Stan Kirby, for bringing that gift to our son!

4My son really enjoyed this book
By T. Murrell
Eugene and his friend Charlie have formed a super hero club after their favorite super hero. Eugene is Captain Awesome and his friend Charlie is Nacho Cheese Man. Their jobs are to get rid of all of the evil, bad guys in their town. They found a scary, spooky house that is the perfect house for their super hero club to take on. Can they figure out what the scary sounds and sights are coming from the haunted house? And who is the mysterious super hero that saves them? The story flows smoothly and quickly. Young readers will appreciate the suspense and fun plot. The black and white pencil illustrations on every page are age appropriate and fit perfectly with the style and story line. The clues in the story are well placed and the vocabulary is right on target for the age of the intended audience. My seven year old son read this book and loved the story and illustrations.I received this book free of charge from Children's Lit in exchange for my honest review.
