As a music teacher, I feel like I uniquely encounter young children's insecurities and this book is incredible in its mission to quell fears both real and imagined. The author is equally whimsical and pragmatic and the result is simply brilliant. I love the illustrations and could totally see this becoming a series. It is such a unique niche- a book that specifically and smartly address such a universal trepidation. The author never speaks down to the young reader, but instead pulls readers of all ages into her magical space odyssey. Makes me want to start kindergarten all over again!!! Well done. I am a fan and will be recommending to all I encounter:)

The book is beautiful written, lively and whimsical. I really enjoyed the space theme. Cleverly written to boost confidence for children entering or about to enter kindergarten. The book layout, illustrations, font and design is truly perfection. A great gift and one that my kids will read to their children one day.

I LOVED this book! It’s all about a kid pretending to go on a space mission to a strange new world – Planet Kindergarten! This is an awesome book to add to your back-to-school list. If you are a kindergarten or pre-school teacher or if you have kids that are going to start kindergarten, I recommend this book. Starting school or going somewhere different can be pretty scary. I love how Ms. Ganz-Schmitt uses imagination and pretend play to help her character overcome his fears. It is great how Ms. Ganz-Schmitt relates everything that happens (or could happen) on the first day of kindergarten to a space adventure. For example when the boy meets the “Commander” she tells everyone how gravity works different on Planet Kindergarten and everyone must work really hard to stay in their seats – funny! :) The book shows that starting kindergarten can be scary but it is a fabulous and fun adventure too. Shane Prigmore’s illustrations are perfect for the story.*NOTE I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
