I ended up liking Unbreakable more than I thought I would. It was really fast paced and a lot happens in the story

I read the first two books in the Caster Chronicles, Beautiful Creatures and Beautiful Darkness, but never finished out that series because the books were so long. I really enjoyed what I read but just didn't want to commit to another 1,000 pages to finish off the series and wished I could have had an abridged version that moved along a little quicker.While perusing Audible I saw Kami's newest book Unbreakable had a listening time of less than 7 hours. Since I listen at double to triple speed I figured it was less than a 3 hour time commitment and worth my time to try this one. I ended up liking Unbreakable more than I thought I would. It was really fast paced and a lot happens in the story.I'm not a huge fan of creepy or scary. I choose romance over horror and light over dark always so this wasn't a perfect fit for me but I got sucked into the story and stuck with it to the end. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with the next book in the series until the ending which left me wanting to know what happens next.I've seen this labeled as paranormal romance but I didn't get hooked by the romance element, in fact I cared very little about the romance aspect of this story which is not what I expected. All I kept thinking was seriously so we have to have another love triangle and does it have to be between twins.What did hook me was the paranormal elements and the mystery and secrets surrounding the Legion.Rating: 4 Stars - Great BookSource: Audible.com DownloadContent: violence and dark elements, a little mild language

4.5 Stars OMG, that was one hell of an adventure! I loved everything about this book! Phew...My mind is still racing with all of the awesomeness that Kami Garcia has brought to the Supernatural book world! This is the perfect spine-chilling, heart-pounding, ghost hunting, action-packed Paranormal book to read around October. Because let me tell you, there was more then a couple parts that I caught myself sliding further and further under the sheets! Yeah, this book definitely put the scare into me! I have never read anything from this author so I really didn't know what to expect from her. But I found myself easily falling into this authors writing, and the plot took off after that. I loved her descriptive writing in Unbreakable. There was a lot of pictures and objects that were crucial to the setting, and if the author didn't deliver it the right way, it would just fall apart. But Mrs. Garcia painted such vivid scenes that I literally could picture every description to the T. The Plot Have you ever thought you heard whispers, or seen something move that wasn't suppose too, or just felt you weren't alone, when you really were? Well this is the world Kennedy Waters lives in, but all them things are real, and something is watching, waiting, and ready to strike. Kennedy and four other teenagers are descendants of a group called The Legion. Its made up of a 5 person ghost hunter organization to keep the spirits, dybbuk, demons, and other crazy supernatural being that are not suppose to exist at bay, and eliminate them. But for Kennedy Waters, she has always lived a fairly normal life, until one day her mother dies of a strange heart attack. After that Kennedy is almost killed by a vengeance spirit! Then she must face the truth, Ghost really do exist! As Kennedy is pulled into the supernatural world that she never knew exist, she is told she is a descendent of the Legion, and bound by her birthright to take her mothers place in the Legion, to eliminate the vengeance spirits from earth! But Kennedy can't wrap her head around all of this fast enough to understand what's going on around her, as spirits are coming at them full force, trying to eliminated The Legion for good! And to make matters worse, their two hot twins that are both catching Kennedy's eye! If Kennedy ever wants to be safe of these vengeance spirits that are hunting her and trying to kill her every chance they get, then she's going to have to fight back, or at least die trying! When I was done reading this book, I was already looking up the next book's release date. I just wanted to jump back into this series and devour Kami Garcia's world she created in Unbreakable. I will be reading more from this author and look forward to continuing this series. She has a great imagination that will keep me entertained to hours!

OH MY GOD!

OH MY GOD! This book is probably my new all-time favorite. I LOVED IT.The beginning was not even that slow, and about 30 pages in.. BAM.. Welcome to your new life Kennedy!In "ghost hunting" there is a lot of different concepts like grave jumping, poltergeists and vengance spirits. This book explains all that in a way that is understandable and does not feel forced.I am not that easily spooked, and a book have never EVER made me scared before. But this one, oh god, this one made me want to keep the lights on because I was afraid that some ghost would kill me in my sleep. I was seriously afraid of reading this book in the dark, because WHAT IF some ghost was with me WHAT IF it wanted to kill me.... I could not sleep....I can understand why somepeople are not so fond of Kennedy, but when she first meets Priest, Lukas, Jared and Alara, she changes. She becomes another person that is selfish and brave - that is the Kennedy I like.I love everything paranormal, I really like watching ghost horror movies (grave encounters is probably my favorite one). I love The Da Vinci Code (unlike a lot of people I know) and this contains all of it perfectly somehow.Downside is that this book ends on a killer cliffhanger! AND the second one doesnt even come out till 2014 - hopefully it comes out in 2014!
