5Love this book!

I pre-ordered this book months back when Teagan first announced on her Facebook that it was coming! It finally arrived in the mail and I absolutely adore it. The illustration is fantastic, cute, detailed but not too detailed, the colos are subtle but not bland and the barefoot critters are adorable! Teagan definitely choose the right paper type for the book as well, its thick and matt!! My 2 year old loves the book and the details.

5The animals are adorable, there are many details to notice

The artwork in this book is absolutely irresistible! The animals are adorable, there are many details to notice, the colors are muted and appealing, and the whole thing is presented on lush thick paper that makes it wonderful to hold, as well. It's an unusual format for an alphabet book, as the words that start with each letter are in the middle of sentences, making it a good choice for older readers. As well as following the alphabet, it follows the seasons through the year, generally avoiding the easy trap of choosing holidays to represent each month (for example "In December our yard is an ice-skating rink.") I love that the activities chosen are examples of good, rich, old-fashioned play: building a stick bridge, making a rocket from cardboard boxes, playing in the mud... The one thing that confused me (although none of the children I teach has mentioned it) is why there is a triceratops among the woodland creatures who people the book. But overall, I loved it and am glad to add it to our collection.
