Case File 13: Zombie Kid follows three monster-obsessed friends who must solve fiendishly funny mysteries in their creepy hometown. Nick, Carter, and Angelo are obsessed with all things monster. And every Halloween they get to show off their monster-knowledge with elaborate homemade costumes. But this year, a surprise trip to the house of an aunt who may have been a voodoo queen throws a major wrench into the boys’ Halloween plans and lands Nick with a cursed amulet that turns him into a real, live (well, undead) zombie.
To Nick and his friends, this is . . . awesome! At first. Then the whole zombie thing starts to get a little out of hand (literally), and the boys have to go on a chilling adventure to reverse the curse. One that involves a talking cat, a skeleton who likes candy corn, and even the dreaded Zombie King himself.

My son loves it

My 10-year-old son is a good reader who prefers graphic novels and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"-type books to chapter books. I ordered this book for him specifically because it looked like his type of story -- but without pictures. The day I gave it to him, I told him he could read 30 mins before "lights out." Well, he begged to stay up and keep reading. Then last night, he asked me if I would wake him up early so he could read the last 20 pages before getting ready for school. I'd say asking to be roused early on a school morning to read indicates a darn good book.

Exciting from Start to Finish

I've been looking forward to this book for months. The three young hero's are delightfully funny with that touch of pure grossness that boys this age are known for. But just because it's funny does not mean it doesn't have its share of chills, thrills and frightening villains. If you're looking for an exciting read full of ghosts, zombies and other assorted creepy characters, this is the book for you. But just one warning... and take it very seriously! Once you open this book you will not be able to put it down till the very last page.

What a fun story about three friends who love Halloween and want to make the BEST costumes every year. (And hope to outdo the girls while at it!) This year the ringleader, Nick, has come up with the coolest zombie costume ever! But sadly, he has to go to a funeral on Halloween and he ends up missing it all! Bummer dude.However, some strange cool stuff happens while on his trip to the funeral. He discovers that his aunt just might be (make that might have BEEN) a voodoo queen. Then that night, while creeping around a graveyard, something happens. When he gets home, he appears to be turned into a real live (dead?) zombie!Which is so cool! Until it's not. That's when he and his friends put their heads together to try and figure out how to fix things, a not so easy task.This story has a bit of everything that will please the younger crowd, especially boys I think. There's lots of funny moments, mixed with lots of creepy spooky moments. And there's even a nice bit of the gross out factor! Very fun!
