Beautiful

Melody is a very shy girl with a wonderful imagination. She may not have a lot of friends in her new neighborhood, but her dream friend is amazing. They have so much fun together. When she finally tries to imagine that world instead of sitting alone and watching the other kids play, she starts dancing. The dancing draws the attention of other children, and Melody is able to make new friends. She learns that life can be as magical as her dreams without actually having magic in it. Will her new friends share in her dream world? You have to read to find out.This picture book should win awards. The illustrations are so beautiful and magical. The color scheme throughout the book is very dream-like and whimsical. As for the story, it is just as magical. The story and the illustrations work well together; think "Neverending Story" meets "Where the Wild Things Are."A wonderful story about being yourself, making new friends, and sharing your dreams, this picture book is perfect for many ages. Smaller children will get lost in the pictures. Older children will appreciate the illustrations as well as the sweet, simple story. Any child who is trying to make new friends will relate to the story, especially children who have vivid imaginations. I really cannot say enough about how beautiful this one is.

This is a wonderful, dreamy, imaginative, humorous, gorgeous and charming new picture book. You Byun tells a sweet story through both her simple text and rich illustrations. The story will resonate with anyone who's ever felt a little shy or unsure of themselves. The world in which You Byun creates, the reality and the fantasy, are unique and really propel the storying telling. It's a world you'll enjoy returning to time and time again. This has all the hallmarks of a new classic, and heralds a true new talent into the picturebook scene.

What struck me first about this book was it's rich pastel hues and magical full illustrations. There is so much to discover on each page! When I read it, a thoughtful story emerged with genuine emotion, real-life scenario and overcoming challenge.This book a great starting point for conversations about any period of change or transition a child may go through.Values encouraged are using imagination, having courage, making friends, being a friend to others.It's great! Each page made me feel so happy!
