58 yr.old daughter loves this book
By DW Draffin
My already-science-geek daughter, who is 8, loves Insect-o-mania. She immediately took out her magnifying glass to examine the beetle (she believes it is a Scarab Beetle) that comes with the book. When her older friend came over (10 yrs.) they turned the pages, exclaiming about all the strange facts. The photographs are beautiful, the layout is eye-catching, and best of all it has real information, not just the whizz-bang "ick" factor that many children's bug books have. Oh, now I will be in trouble with the science geeks, for mixing insects up with bugs. This book will appeal to those experienced with insects, as well as the newbies. It gives accurate vocabulary in an approachable fashion, without over-simplifying. Easily appealing to many children, girls or boys.

5Another brilliant additon to the series
By John W.
Our kids never seem to tire of the wonders found in the "Science with Stuff" series, and this book is no exception. The photos are striking and so many of the facts are wonderfully bizarre. I've been sneaking peeks myself after the kids go to bed. As with the other books in the series, this book grabbed my kids' interest and has so far kept them engaged with memorable images and surprising info from the natural world.

5Super Fun!
By Heidi Nebel
I actually love all of the Science with Stuff books by Allyson Kulavis. They are fun to read, well researched and super interesting (even for adults). The photos/pix are awesome and they come with a cool piece of something (like a moon rock or insect) which makes things more experiential for the kiddos....and they make great bathroom reading too! Check out the others she has Fossil-iscious and Space-tacular.
