Judy Moody and Stink: The Big Bad Blackout Details

Hold on to your umbrella and stock up on marshmallows — Judy and Stink face wicked weather in their third full-color adventure.

Judy and Stink and the whole Moody family hunker down with beans and batteries, ready to wait out the storm. But along with massive rain and strong winds, Hurricane Elmer throws down ghosts, squirrels, and aliens. Spooky! Just when things couldn’t possibly get any freakier — flicker, flicker, gulp! — the lights go O-U-T out. The Moodys are smack-dab in the middle of a big bad blackout! Grandma Lou proposes musical board games and some good old-fashioned storytelling. Will Hurricane Elmer go down in Moody family history as bad news, a happy memory, or simply an LBS (Long Boring Story)?

5Another great Judy Moody & Stink book!
By AmyS
Read this with my son who is in second grade. He enjoyed it as much if not more than the Stink books and previous Judy Moody and Stink adventures together. The plot follows the exploits of the sibling pair and their grandmother as they are all stuck in the house during a blackout. Kids will likely cheer along with Judy and Stink when school is cancelled and appreciate their attempts to scare their grandmother.

4The Big Bad Blackout
By Jami
What a charming, family fun filled book of things to do when the lights go out. They told storiesate s'mores, played games and they all got along. For ages 6 and up. There are a few places where kids might get scared if they are too young or it is being read by an older sibling.

3Another fun adventure from Judy and her brother Stink in this ...
By Shelli
Another fun adventure from Judy and her brother Stink in this addictive series for young readers. A colossal storm is raging, causing the Moody family to stay home and find ways to entertain themselves inside with no electricity. (At least there isn't any school!) Stink and Judy are both reminded of all the amazing ways they can spend their time, other than video games and television, and can’t wait for the next storm to come.My daughter and I can’t help but read this series with its lovable characters, even though she is now into her teenage years.
