Larry Gets Lost Under the Sea is another fun collaboration from Eric Ode and John Skewes. When Larry the dog and his human friend Pete go to the beach, Larry sneaks away for a maritime adventure. Or perhaps I should say a “marine biology” adventure because this book is packed with science. My family recently went to the Aquarium in Vancouver, Canada, and this was an excellent text to reinforce everything we learned about sea life. From the oceans of the world to how tides work, Larry Gets Lost Under the Sea explains crucial concepts with beautiful illustrations and a very cute dog.I could definitely see this book being part of a K-3 classroom library supporting Common Core standards for informational text, but it’s also a fun book to have at home for bedtime read aloud.P.S. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

This is a beautiful book filled with colorful illustrations. A great adventure story and very informative as to marine life. I read this book to my grandchildren ages 3 to 9 and they all enjoyed it. So exciting to learn about sea life, tides pools, hermit crabs, sea plants and even scuba diving to gain an appreciation of the subject. The dog Larry is a delightful character that captured the interest of my wide range age group of listeners. The illustrations are indeed captivating and encourage discussion.I highly recommend this wonderful story, Bravo John Skewes

Our kindergartner is studying different habitats right now, and will be taking a field trip to the Birch Aquarium in a couple weeks, so I thought this would be a great book for him. Both him and his 3 yr old sister enjoyed this book being read to them. It's a nice little short story that rhymes but also has little tidbits off to the side that explain things in the ocean in more detail. For my 3 year old I just read the story, but my 6 year old also likes to be read the detailed excerpts.
