cute book, but not if you have original Pout Pout Fish

I was so excited to get this because my daughter LOVES her Pout Pout Fish board book, but it's like a dumbed down version of the original. There is very little text and the story doesn't have the smoochy ending. It's a nice book for a very young toddler who is not ready for the whole Pout Pout Fish book, but if choosing between the two I'd go for the original, and if you have the original, I wouldn't buy this one.

Perfect intro for the tiniest story listeners

I love Pout-Pout Fish! I'm a big fan, and I love to use the original Pout Pout Fish and Pout Pout Fish in the Big Big Dark in my preschool story times. They are always big hits. Smile is a very short intro to this charming character that is tailor made for the tiniest of story listeners. I am very excited to use this with my baby story time group, even though the size is a little small for group sharing. At only 12 pages, it's a short little story that gives baby a great first glimpse at emotions. Mr. Fish is as expressive as ever, and does a great job of showing the reader his worried, sad, sad, scared and mad faces. Of course we also get to see that famous pout, and all ends well when he gets cheered up at the end and delivers an exuberant smile. What cheers him up? You know it had to be a smooch.This is a sturdy board book, so it will of course be able to withstand lots of love and repeat readings. The blue ocean color palette is as appealing as ever, and Mr. Fish's big expressive face perfectly complements a text that exhibits a wonderfully smooth read aloud flow. This little intro is heavy on charm and is a big recommend for infants and toddlers.

I was so excited to find out that a board book was being made available as my 2 year old destroyed the original Pout Pout Fish book. I didn't want to spend another $16 for him to ruin another book.This board book was a great compromise as my son loves to kiss a happy pout pout fish at the end of the story. This book is beautifully illustrated and a quick read. Enjoy!
