5GREAT book to help kids learn how to share. Childish enough that kids will like it. Serious enough that they actually learn!
By Skipjacks
My daughter is a typical 4 year old. She doesn't love to share and is a tad more possessive than I'd prefer. This book is written to demonstrate how that kind of behavior isn't desirable. And it does a great job. The illustrations are simple. The words are simple. It shows the main character constantly proclaiming that everything is hers and that she doesn't have to share. Then it shows the consequences of her actions being that nobody wants to play with her. Then (most importantly) it shows how when she changes her behavior and becomes a better friend, that other kids immediately want to play with her again and how everyone is happier. When I talked about the ending with my daughter you could see the gears turning in her little head and it was suddenly like a light bulb went off above her when she fully comprehended what I was getting at.It's done in a way that a kid can easily follow. And it lends itself to being a book a parent can have a more detailed talk about, relating real life examples of a child's behavior to the story book. The book is done generically enough that you can easily compare your kids' real life experiences to it. This helped my daughter connect to the book and the moral of the story. My daughter is still working on improving her sharing, but this book is helping her to understand why she needs to change her behavior. So even if she still makes mistakes while she learns how to share, we can more easily talk about it when she does, rather than just being upset with her while she is confused about what she's done wrong. This makes my parenting much more effective.I love this book. I recommend it to every parent. It's simple and childish enough that kids enjoy reading it. And it's serious enough that the kids actually learn something!

4Amy learns the joy of sharing
By Sunshine on A Rainy Day
Little Amy loves her things. But when her twin brothers come and try to play with her stuffed animals, an argument begins. Her baby brother tries to play with her stuffed bird and Amy again is upset. But the twins point out that the baby needs something to make him not feel so lonely. Amy decides that sharing is indeed a good idea and makes them all feel happier. The illustrations were done in colored pencil and acrylic paint. They are colorful, simple for the little ones and do a good job of showing emotions.I like this story for its simplicity. Amy wants to be selfish with her things, but she learns the joy (both hers and theirs) of sharing with others. Advertized for ages 2-5 which I think is perfect.

4This book was fun for my 16-month-old granddaughter who immediately grasped the significance ...
By J. Mitchell
This book was fun for my 16-month-old granddaughter who immediately grasped the significance of "MINE!" and has begun applying the word frequently to things she wants whether or not they are remotely her posessions. I can see how this might be tedious for the siblings and parents, but for me, her grandmother, it's lovely how she's absorbed the concept and knows how to apply it. She loves the book and asks to have it read to her often. Big fan!
